Dirty corner covered by soil

The site-specific installation Dirty Corner fully occupied the Cathedral of the Fabbrica del Vapore. This installation consisted of a huge steel volume which the visitors could enter.

The entrance was goblet-shaped; the interior and exterior surface was circular and with only a minimum contact with the ground. The artwork was progressively covered with soil transported by a conveyor belt linked to a silo outside the cathedral.

The making of Dirty corner

The exhibition project curated both the placement/location and the technical aspects of the whole/complex sculpture. Both the conveyer belt and the storage hopper were built and customized expressly for the show.

Dismantle of Dirty corner

The system through which they were connected was a coclea, an archimedean screw.
